Improving the environmental performance and services offered to help the sustainable development of the supply chain

At Savino Del Bene, we are consistently committed to reducing our environmental impact by offering sustainable solutions and using resources responsibly. To achieve this goal, we focused on 3 macro-areas to reduce pollution and waste in a manner compatible with the way we run our business.

GREEN-PROCUREMENT

To make the supply chain more sustainable, we also select and evaluate suppliers based on their environmental impact. In fact, we have supplemented this qualification process with information about the environmentally friendly activities they manage. In this way, you can make even more informed choices regarding the type of carrier partner to use considering the aspects of cost, time, risk and sustainability.

EMISSIONS CALCULATION

An important element of sustainability policies is to monitor your ecological footprint to offer the most suitable solutions for your requests. For this reason, we carry out detailed analyses of supply chain flows, in accordance with the EN 16258 standard, using tools aimed at measuring greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, in order to improve efficiency and environmental performance.

ENERGY SUPPLY

The Group seeks constant progress in its environmental performance, taking responsibility for promoting sustainable and responsible development. By the end of 2023, Savino del Bene has completed the installation of two photovoltaic systems in two warehouses, with a capacity of 509,300 kW and 248,755 kWp respectively. Furthermore, for the Scandicci Headquarters and the Florence office, a contract has been stipulated with an electricity supplier that guarantees 100% supply from renewable sources.

GREEN-PROCUREMENT

Tools to assess the environmental impact in the procurement phase:

  • Commercial proposals: in the offers we present, we can include analyses relating to the offsetting of CO2 emissions from shipping through the use of certified international programs.
  • Eco Scoring: we monitor and evaluate our suppliers through the internal supplier qualification system by providing sustainability scoring.
  • Risk assessment tool: we monitor all the stages of the shipment, ensuring immediate control and analysis of the risks related to the service offered to your companies.

EMISSIONS CALCULATION

Emissions monitoring tools:

  • Customized emissions reports for each customer: on request, we can provide a summary report on the carbon footprint that calculates in kg the GHG emissions for each shipment. These reports can be customized to illustrate emissions in your network.
  • Track & Trace: in our shipment tracking platform you can also view the detailed emissions calculation of the EcoTransIT software, associated with the Greenhouse Emissions Council (GLEC) Framework. We also participate in the EWI (EcoTransIT World Initiative).

Questo servizio speciale è destinato alle spedizioni di merci fuori sagoma o/e con pesi che non rientrano nelle misure ordinarie delle spedizioni FCL o che richiedono una movimentazione fuori dagli standard. Quando i quantitativi di merce sono ridotti ma non si vuole rinunciare ai vantaggi della spedizione via mare, il servizio LCL consente di consolidare diverse partite di merce per la stessa destinazione. Offriamo questo servizio sulle più importanti rotte marittime, sia per merce dry che per merce a temperatura controllata.

Spedizioni marittime “Full Container Load”

Questo servizio è la formula ottimale per lo spostamento di grandi quantitativi. Infatti il container viene riempito totalmente con la merce di un unico destinatario. Una tra le soluzioni più utilizzate è quella door to door, a cui si aggiunge, oltre alla spedizione via mare, un servizio multimodale su gomma o su rotaia, indipendentemente da quale sia il punto di partenza o di destinazione.
