Our history
We have always challenged the concepts of time and space
Once upon a time,
in Florence...
Savino Del Bene founded his eponymous company in the Cradle of the Renaissance, Florence. Led by him until the 1950s, it remained operational even after two world wars.
A novelty during the
economic boom
Alessandro Del Bene, son of the founder, took over the reins of the company, which he led during the economic boom of the fifties and sixties. During this period, in fact, the company's nationwide expansion began, with the opening of its first Italian offices in Milan, Naples and Livorno.
Arrival
in the United States
The internationalization of the company was underway. Having inaugurated its first overseas office in New York City, other offices were opened throughout the United States after just a few years, in cities such as Dallas, Houston, Los Angeles and San Francisco.
Towards development
and beyond
This year saw the birth of the shareholding structure that has led Savino Del Bene towards constant growth: five company managers, headed by current President Paolo Nocentini, took over the helm of the company. For years to come, this new structure would be the Group's engine of development.
Continued
development in Italy
Savino Del Bene consolidated and developed its presence in its home country by expanding the number of its offices. Many of these new offices were created in industrial areas, strategically supporting the export of Made in Italy products to the world.
The conquest
of Latin America
Meanwhile, the process of globalization of society continued, and still continues today. Indeed, the overseas experience of Savino Del Bene did not end in the US: the opening of the first office in Brazil, in São Paulo, marked the beginning of its international expansion into South America.
Sights set
on Asia
Savino Del Bene did not stop there, continuing to expand to distant lands. Growth in Europe and America went hand in hand with openings in Asia: first China and Japan, followed by Indonesia, India and Singapore.
Listing
on the stock exchange
This year, the company entered the stock market, distributing dividends annually. In 2003, the delisting operation would take place, when a management buy-out operation was carried out by the two referenced shareholders, Silvano Brandani and Chairman Paolo Nocentini, through the launch of a public purchase offer. This operation would lead to a decisive strengthening of the shareholding structure, going from eight to two shareholders, thus endowing the company with greater stability and more concrete management, allowing it to further develop its globalization strategy in the following years.
Unparalleled expansion
in foreign markets
A targeted procurement policy in Mexico, Costa Rica, Panama and Colombia was a novel approach allowing the company's network to expand in Latin America. We thus became a multinational sector leader, standing out from other players in the market thanks to our ability to gain loyalty and provide flexible and customized solutions for the needs of all sectors. The expansion process is still underway and shows no signs of slowing down.
Shareholder Silvano Brandani passes away
At the age of 74, after a sudden illness, Silvano Brandani, partner and co-author of Savino Del Bene's growth alongside Paolo Nocentini, passed away.
Innovative leadership
After the death of Brandani, the Nocentini family took over the reins of the company, with a 23% stake in the Swiss company MSC. Indeed, 2015 was a turning point that led the Chairman of Savino Del Bene to acquire the absolute majority of the company, while his son Fabio later came into the role of Vice Chair. The new leadership imbued with Savino Del Bene's culture, built over decades of history, continues to put the ability to evolve, imagine the future and innovate at the center of its business philosophy.
By your side for the past 120 years
We have always challenged the concepts of space and time, and for us to hold the record as the most important Italian-controlled company in the shipping industry, celebrating 120 years of history was a great achievement.
Beyond limits
and boundaries
The last few years have presented an important challenge to the Group that has allowed us to strengthen our business. After all, those who possess the willpower to face difficult times are able to successfully overcome any obstacle. This very mantra of President Paolo Nocentini is put into practice by all of us at Savino Del Bene, and it accompanies us on our journey toward excellence and continuous improvement.
125 years
of history
Savino Del Bene, proudly celebrates its 125th anniversary. This historic milestone represents a significant moment for the Company which continues to lead the industry through innovation, reliability, and dedication. "This anniversary represents a moment of great gratitude for all of us at Savino Del Bene," said President Paolo Nocentini.
