Florence, October 10th, 2018: Savino Del Bene has sponsored the logistics of the third mission of the surgical medical team GICAM (International Group of Friends of the Hand Surgery) and managed the shipment of a container loaded with hospital equipment, departed from Lugano and delivered on October 5th, 2018 at the CHRP Hospital in Jamkhed, Maharashtra in India.
The offices of Savino Del Bene Basel, Genoa and Mumbai coordinated the shipment, dealing with all the various phases: from the collection of medical tools, sanitisation and packaging of the same and the fulfillment of all the complex bureaucratic procedures to enter into India. The material was delivered in time to be used by the GICAM medical crew, which will leave in two weeks for the new mission. They will be able to operate many children, with safer surgical procedures and with a lower risk of infections.
Last October 2017, the Italian-Swiss team made up of surgeons, anesthetists, nurses and physiotherapists, highly specialized in complex pediatric hands reconstructions surgeries, left Milan Malpensa to India to assist the majority of patients with treatment needs.
The mission was accomplished with 55 patients visited and 25 patients operated, of whom 47% were children.
These operations gave the Indian doctors and surgeons the opportunity to improve their scientific skills, in the hope of being able to give back to many little patients a manual function that for accidents, burns, malformations, needs to be rebuilt.
The President, Prof. Marco Lanzetta and all the members of the GICAM Board of Directors have expressed great gratitude for the generosity and sensibility shown by Savino Del Bene and its President Paolo Nocentini.
