Maritime transport is still today founded on a complex regulation with paper documentation, stamps and signatures. The Bill of Lading is one of the most important documents in international trade, it is present from origin to destination, and it is essential for cargo ownership, customs clearance and payments. This basic document travels separated from goods and it is managed by several actors of the chain. It turns out to be a slow and complex process.
With the acceleration of the digitization process caused by Covid-19, Savino Del Bene has started working, in collaboration with one of the most important shipping line, to the BL digitization using the innovative platform of the Israeli start-up WAVE, which digitizes and certifies the ownership, in a precise and univocal manner, of the original Master B/L.
The first branches testing this new system are Savino Del Bene Florence and Sao Paulo and thanks to the positive feedback received so far, we are confident that this new program could be extended to the other offices of the Group, such as Peru and Netherlands. It is a project that will improve the operational efficiency and safety of the entire maritime logistics chain for all the operators involved in this process.
